shortcut romeo is a story of one man's trip into crime and friendship. it revolves around romeo (neil nitin mukesh), a man who wants to settle in life and do what he has to do for his family. he meets a gangster (vijayakanth) and falls in love with a girl. romance is in the air.

one day the gang members over throw a girlfriend who has an affair with a gangster's son and to avenge the loss they also plan to kill romeo and the policewoman. the gang members ask the gangster to make things right. the gangster arranges to kill romeo and send him as a person from his gang to face criminal cases. he also asks the policewoman to marry him. when romeo and the policewoman decide to elope the gangsters kill romeo's friend (sonia mansingh) as he attempts to stop the elopement.

the rest of the movie is about how romeo comes out of the gangster's trap and the closure he gets from the gangsters. the film ends with romeo married to the policewoman and also happy because he has got his family back.
